Description

27-Inch High-Brightness Touch Monitor for Large Outdoor-Facing Interfaces

This 27-inch PCAP touch monitor combines a 16:9 display format with a 1000 cd/m² high-brightness LCD for equipment installed in strong ambient light. The large active area is suitable for user interfaces that must present maps, product images, payment instructions, charging information or multiple operating steps without reducing text and touch controls to impractical sizes.

The monitor is intended for OEM equipment integration rather than desktop use. Cover glass, touch controller, optical treatment, sealing, housing, interfaces, mounting points and thermal structure can be adapted to the completed terminal.

Engineering Advantages

1000 cd/m² High-Brightness LCD

The 1000 cd/m² backlight improves visibility in semi-outdoor locations, open parking structures, transport stations and indoor sites with strong window light. It is also suitable for outdoor equipment with a canopy, recessed screen or other form of direct-sunlight control.

Brightness alone does not guarantee sunlight readability. Front-glass reflectance, air gaps, optical bonding, display contrast, viewing angle and installation direction also affect the image seen by the user.

27-Inch 16:9 Interaction Area

The large widescreen format can display navigation, equipment status, transaction steps and visual instructions on one interface. It is useful when operators stand farther from the terminal or when accessibility requirements call for larger text and touch targets.

The UI should still be designed for the expected viewing distance. Large screen dimensions do not compensate for small buttons, low text contrast or excessive information density.

AG and AR Optical Surface Options

Anti-glare treatment diffuses strong reflections from the sun, overhead lighting and nearby vehicles. Anti-reflection treatment helps reduce the amount of light reflected directly toward the user. The required haze and reflectance level should be selected according to the installation environment.

Optional Optical Bonding

OCA or OCR optical bonding removes the air gap between the LCD and touch assembly. This reduces internal reflection and improves perceived contrast in bright conditions. It can also strengthen the assembly and reduce the risk of internal contamination, but it does not independently establish an IP rating.

Projected Capacitive Touch

PCAP touch supports direct user input for selection, scrolling, maps and transaction workflows. Touch-point count, glove operation, wet-surface behavior and palm rejection depend on the controller firmware and must be tested with the final cover glass and enclosure.

Configurable Front-Side Protection

An IP65 front-side configuration can be developed using cover glass, sealing adhesive, gasket and panel mounting. This protection applies to the operator-facing surface after correct installation. Rear connectors, ventilation openings and cable entries require separate enclosure protection.

Thermal Design for High-Brightness Operation

A 27-inch 1000-nit LCD produces more heat than a standard indoor display. In a sealed kiosk, solar loading and backlight heat can raise internal temperature and reduce LCD or power-board life.

The equipment design should provide a thermal path from the monitor chassis to the enclosure. Depending on measured internal temperature, the terminal may require heat sinks, natural-convection channels, filtered fans, active ventilation, an air-to-air heat exchanger or controlled backlight dimming.

Custom Mechanical and Interface Integration

Panel-mount, open-frame and VESA structures can be reviewed according to the terminal design. Video input, touch interface, power connector, cable direction and service-access space can be customized to simplify equipment assembly and field maintenance.

Actual Application Scenarios

EV Charging Terminals

The 27-inch screen can present connector status, charging tariffs, QR codes, payment steps and advertising content on the same interface. A 1000-nit display is appropriate for covered or semi-outdoor charging locations; fully exposed sites require an assessment of solar loading, reflections, UV exposure and enclosure cooling.

Parking Payment and Entry Terminals

The large interface can display vehicle information, parking duration, payment instructions and receipts at a viewing distance greater than that of a countertop kiosk. AG/AR glass helps reduce reflections from open entrances, vehicle headlights and overhead lighting.

Outdoor Vending Equipment

The screen can show multiple product categories, large product images, availability and transaction prompts. The enclosure must protect rear electronics from rain and condensation, while the display controller and backlight require sufficient heat dissipation.

Fuel Dispensers and Energy-Service Equipment

The 16:9 display provides space for fuel selection, safety instructions, loyalty information and payment prompts. The monitor itself is not an explosion-proof product; installation in regulated hazardous areas requires a separately certified equipment design.

Automatic Car-Wash Terminals

A front-sealed configuration can support equipment exposed to spray and frequent surface moisture. Touch firmware should be tuned to reject false input from water films, and the final terminal must be tested using the actual cleaning pressure and installation structure.

Transport and Public-Service Kiosks

The 27-inch interface supports maps, route selection, multilingual instructions and accessible touch targets. Viewing height, reach distance, screen angle and wheelchair access should be considered during enclosure design.

Bright Indoor Information Terminals

Shopping centers, airports and glass-fronted reception areas can experience much higher ambient light than standard offices. The 1000-nit configuration helps maintain readability where a 300–400-nit monitor appears washed out.

Application Selection Boundaries

  • Covered semi-outdoor installation: 1000 nits with AG/AR glass is normally a practical starting configuration.
  • Direct midday sunlight: Validate with an actual sample; optical bonding, shading or higher brightness may be required.
  • Fully sealed kiosk: Perform thermal testing at maximum ambient temperature and backlight output.
  • Rain exposure: Define whether only the front surface or the complete monitor requires protection.
  • Wet-touch operation: Validate the actual water film, droplets and cleaning process.
  • Glove operation: Supply the glove material and thickness for controller tuning.
  • Public access: Define the cover-glass thickness and required impact level.
  • Polarized sunglasses: Test display visibility in portrait and landscape orientations.
  • Hazardous locations: Use a separately evaluated and certified equipment solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a 1000-nit 27-inch monitor readable in direct sunlight?

It provides substantially better visibility than a standard indoor LCD, but direct-sun readability also depends on glass reflectance, optical bonding, display contrast, viewing angle and installation direction. A sample should be tested at the intended site.

Why is thermal design important for this monitor?

A 27-inch high-brightness backlight produces significant heat. Solar exposure and a sealed cabinet can further increase internal temperature, so the enclosure may require heat spreading, ventilation, controlled fans or automatic backlight reduction.

Does IP65 mean the entire monitor is waterproof?

Not necessarily. In many installations, IP65 applies to the front surface after correct panel mounting. Rear housing, ventilation, connectors and cable entries require separate protection.

Can the touchscreen work with gloves or water on the surface?

Glove and wet-touch modes can be configured through PCAP controller tuning. Final performance must be validated with the actual glove, water condition, cover glass, grounding and enclosure.

Can the monitor be installed in portrait orientation?

Portrait installation can be evaluated, but LCD viewing characteristics, heat distribution, backlight structure, content layout and polarized-sunglasses visibility must be checked before approval.

Can the cover glass and housing be customized?

Yes. Available options include glass dimensions, thickness, printed border, logo, AG/AR/AF treatment, optical bonding, gasket, housing, mounting holes, connector position and cable direction.

Does the monitor include an operating system?

This product is primarily a touch monitor connected to an external computer. If an integrated processor and operating system are required, request a panel PC configuration.
